Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective, patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development.
The RN emphasizes evidence-based practice and education supported by a governance framework.
The RN supervises both licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Applying the caring processes of the Swanson Model of Care, the RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and in mentoring or precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure, or as warranted by patient condition.
Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care.
Reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services.
Utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Ensures relevant care, treatment, and services provided during their stay and at discharge.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Functions as a mentor or preceptor.
Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.
Identifies and communicates improvement opportunities.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
Complies with regulatory standards and participates in the governance model.
Required Skills:
Two years of acute care nursing experience is necessary.
