Job Title: Postpartum Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: RN must be skilled with newborn care, including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration. RN must be skilled with magnesium infusions, insulin infusions, PCA/PCEA infusions, and heparin infusions. Description: Position is for a Postpartum Registered Nurse. The registered nurse will be responsible for providing care to postpartum patients and their newborns. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:3. Weekend work is required unless otherwise specified in the schedule. The position does not require on-call duty. Floating within the hospital may be required, but floating to sister hospitals is not permitted. The nurse will be involved in high-risk maternal care and needs to be knowledgeable about magnesium and insulin infusions. Care for infants admitted to the unit shall be based on family-centered practices. Special procedures include phototherapy and monitoring low birth weight infants. The registered nurse will be responsible for discharge teaching to parents and ensuring proper infant identification. Additional duties will involve managing medication infusions and conducting patient assessments. The unit emphasizes teamwork and provides interdisciplinary support, including respiratory services and social work. Unit consists of 18 beds with a daily census that varies. All relevant certifications and skills must be maintained throughout employment.
