Description:
RN - Neonatal ICU position available.
Facility has 247 licensed beds.
It is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and a Teaching Hospital.
Unit has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58.
Patient types include:
- Respiratory: Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn, Meconium Aspiration, Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, etc.
- Cardiac: Congenital Heart Defects, Patent Ductus Arteriosus, Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn, etc.
- Neuro: Seizures, Intraventricular Hemorrhage, Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy.
- Gastrointestinal, Genitourinary, Musculoskeletal, and Endocrine concerns include: Necrotizing Enterocolitis, Feeding Intolerance, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Sepsis, etc.
Patient ratios vary on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3.
Required skills include:
- EPIC experience
- Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration
- Management of invasive lines and aseptic techniques
- Ventilator and tracheostomy management
- Feeding tube and chest tube management
- Bedside procedures in collaboration with providers
Unit support includes:
- Unit Secretary every shift
- Charge nurse available 24/7
- Resource Nurse available 24/7
- Intensivist and residents in-house 24/7
- Unit-based Educators
Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and flexibility.
Scrub color is navy, with specific dress code guidelines in place.
The position requires weekend rotation and holidays as scheduled.
Travelers may float to similar units as needed.
