Travel Nurse RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - $2,377 per week in Charlotte, NC

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience. License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: MUST be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Must have manager approval on first-time travelers, as this will depend on current staffing. Description: This position is for an RN specializing in Neonatal ICU. The facility has 247 licensed beds and is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. It also serves as a teaching hospital and is certified as a Stroke Center. The unit has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory distress syndrome, transient tachypnea of the newborn, and meconium aspiration. Cardiac conditions such as congenital heart defects and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn are also frequently encountered. Neurological conditions like seizures and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy are part of the patient population. Gastrointestinal and renal issues, including necrotizing enterocolitis and acute renal failure, are common as well. Patient ratios vary based on acuity, ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Required skills include: Experience with EPIC, EVDs, and critical care vasoactive drip titration. Ability to manage invasive lines and perform aseptic and sterile techniques. Competence in ventilator and tracheostomy management, along with feeding tube and chest tube management. Experience with bedside procedures and discharge skills is essential. Support within the department includes a unit secretary, charge nurse, and resource nurse available 24/7. There are also intensivists, residents, and centralized tele monitoring as additional support on site. Unit-based educators and clinical supervisors are available to assist in the unit as needed. Scheduling requires rotation on weekends, with two Fridays and two Mondays required every six weeks, in addition to every other weekend. Travelers will be expected to work holidays based on scheduling needs. The unit encourages a culture of teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, compassion, and flexibility. Dress code requires solid navy or white scrubs, and adherence to practice guidelines such as "bare below elbow" in nurseries.
