NICU Registered Nurse - Local Contract Shift Details

• Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Orientation Date: September 30

Schedule

• 3x12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend requirement: Every 3rd, or more if willing
• Every other holiday

On-Call Requirements

• No on-call requirement
• If census goes down, a Standby process is in place — the person on standby must be able to get to the hospital within 1 hour to take an assignment
• A census decrease is not anticipated

Duties and Responsibilities

• Level 3 care
• CPAP
• Ventilator management
• UVC lines
• Support in Labor and Delivery at deliveries when needed
• Provides strong developmental care

Required Experience

• Minimum 2-3 years of Level 3 NICU experience

Required Certification

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Education Required

• BSN

Unit Description

• 14 licensed beds with census currently much higher
• Approximately 50 nurses on staff
• 2 full-time Physical Therapists
• Nutritionist on staff
• Speech Therapist on staff
• Social Work support available
• Cares for babies born at 22+ weeks gestation
• No surgical patients
• If census decreases, nurses may be reassigned to either the Pediatrics unit or the Maternity unit to care for babies only — this is not likely to occur
