Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) NICU Float Pool – Northern New Jersey
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Northern New Jersey
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week; Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday); Winter holiday requirement includes working or providing on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
Highlights:
- NICU-based float pool position serving a 56-bed Level III NICU at a Regional Perinatal Center caring for over 1,200 premature and ill newborns annually
- Float between NICU Level III, Newborn Nursery (NBN), PICU, and Pediatrics with appropriate patient assignments based on skill set
- Patient ratios vary based on unit, acuity, census, and staffing; typical ratios of 1:2
- Epic charting system; approximately 18 hours of non-billable modules required (EPIC training and facility-specific training completed pre-start)
- Part of a 597-bed teaching hospital and major academic medical center affiliated with a renowned medical school
- First-time travelers welcome; local candidates accepted at the same rate
Requirements:
- Active New Jersey or Compact state nursing license required at time of submission
- Current BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 1.5 years of documented NICU Level III and PICU experience in employment history
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency in arterial line management, central line/implanted line care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation/management and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Competency in neonatal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome care
- At least one supervisory reference required at time of submission
- Ability to float without exception to assigned units based on clinical needs
