TravelNurseSource is working with United Health Care Staffing, Inc. to find a qualified NICU RN in Santa Cruz, California, 95060!

Registered Nurse - NICU

Location: Santa Cruz, CA

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; every other weekend required

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $75 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized, compassionate care to NICU patients, including premature and late-preterm infants
  • Assess, monitor, and track vital signs, lab work, and responses to treatment for 1:1 to 1:3 acuity levels
  • Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and respiratory therapists to manage ventilators and complex neonatal conditions
  • Perform neonatal lab draws, IV therapy, and medication administration with precision
  • Educate and support families through the NICU journey, from admission to discharge home or transfer
  • Document accurately in Cerner and step into charge nurse responsibilities when assigned
Qualifications
  • Active California RN license or willingness to obtain one
  • 2+ years of NICU experience caring for critically ill neonates
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications
  • COVID-19 vaccination required
  • Experience with Cerner electronic charting and Phillips telemetry is a plus
  • Commitment to delivering family-centered care in a level III community NICU
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong working knowledge of neonatal conditions such as r/o sepsis, prematurity, late preterm, IDGDM, and NAS
  • Comfortable with ventilator management and neonatal resuscitation
  • Skill in using Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
  • Excellent communication for collaborating with a 24/7 care team and educating families
  • Ability to float within the unit as needed and support charge nurse duties
