Travel Nurse RN - Neuro - $2,308 per week in Peoria, IL

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Neuro Med-Surg Acute Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active IL license required or confirmation that application process has been initiated Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Level 1 trauma experience - Previous travel experience (no first-time travelers) - Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit - Heparin gtt experience Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Neuro Med-Surg Acute specialty. The unit has 54 beds with 2 semi-private rooms. Nurse-to-patient ratios are approximately 1:4-5 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during night shifts. Common diagnoses include stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, head injuries, and other neuroscience cases, along with some medical overflow. Registered Nurses are required to titrate drips, including heparin titrated based on PTT. A charge nurse is available 24/7 and typically does not take an assignment unless staffing requires it. House supervisors are also present 24/7. There are nurse aides/patient care techs on the unit with ratios of 1:9-10 during the day and evening shifts, and 1:10-12 at night. Nurses may have to troubleshoot respiratory equipment, but COVID patients are rare on the unit. Telemetry monitoring is house-wide, so nurses do not need to read strips. Shifts are 12 hours with an expectation for weekend and holiday work every other weekend and holiday. Floating within the rotation is a requirement, but nurses will only perform skills they are competent to do if floated outside of the general unit. Scrub color is not specified, but tattoos must be covered, and only ear piercings are permitted while on duty. The orientation consists of 2 days of training, which includes computer and unit-specific training with an educator and a preceptor.
