This role provides care to patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and available resources within the institution's philosophy. Essential functions include performing all responsibilities and duties specific to the scope of service within the unit. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Accurate documentation of nursing care provided is maintained to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Initial assessments upon patient admission are completed, and an appropriate plan of care is developed based on patient and family needs. The plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures are implemented effectively. Continuous evaluation leads to modifications of the plan of care when necessary. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communication with others is conducted directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers. Conferring with colleagues helps to expand knowledge bases. The RN identifies personal learning needs and takes the initiative to seek appropriate solutions. All departmental competency requirements are fulfilled.
