Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a large urban hospital License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic charting experience - Experience with mixed acuity units - Ability to manage drips Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse in a mixed acuity unit. The nurse will be responsible for caring for medical surgical patients with neurological conditions. Patient population includes strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, and brain and spinal cord tumors. The unit has 48 beds, with 8 dedicated to long-term EEG monitoring. Nurses should be prepared to care for up to six Med/Surg patients. Ratios for medical surgical/telemetry are typically 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Night ratios may occasionally reach 1:7. Stepdown ratios are 1:3-4 for both day and night shifts. All nurses are expected to float as needed to meet staffing requirements. Unit staffing includes CNAs, care techs, and LPNs assigned on some floors. Mandatory weekend shifts include 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. Travelers must work two of the three major holidays. The facility maintains a 100% nicotine-free environment. RNs are required to wear specific scrubs. Labs must be completed shortly after accepting the position. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly complex and specialized patient care environment.
