Job Description

Job Title: Circulator Neuro RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 18 weeks Shift: First Shift Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: No experience required License: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state Certifications: BLS preferred Must-Have: Neuro background; must circulate only (not scrubbing) Description: The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. Nursing practices are based on evidence and current research, as well as hospital and department policies and procedures. The RN coordinates, ensures, and provides direct patient care activities on the unit. Responsibilities include provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments. The RN facilitates admission, transfer, and discharge activities. Patient and family-centered education is provided based on individual needs. The RN performs and documents a comprehensive assessment according to their scope of practice and hospital policies. Cultural, age, and developmental levels are considered when identifying patient needs. The RN collects objective and subjective data and verifies initial admission assessments. A prioritized problem list is developed based on input from the inter-professional team. Actions and interventions are designed relevant to patient culture and age. Desired outcomes are determined in coordination with the patient and family. Patient care therapies and procedures are implemented in accordance with established policies and procedures. The RN initiates actions to alleviate patient stress and discomfort. Changes in patient condition are recognized, responded to, and communicated appropriately. Ongoing assessments and responses to procedures and therapies are conducted and documented. Tasks are delegated appropriately, with oversight of team members. The RN monitors the accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care. Educational needs of patients are identified and addressed. The patient discharge process is facilitated in a timely manner. Input is provided into patient assignments considering available staffing and patient acuity. Active participation in unit-based activities is demonstrated in support of organizational values. A positive group dynamic and healing environment are promoted through words and actions. Nursing excellence is assured in accordance with accepted standards and evidence-based practice. Participation in department and unit quality improvement activities is expected. A holistic perspective regarding patient care is maintained.
