Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 4x12 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience required - Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required - Gastrointestinal case skills required - IV therapy and phlebotomy experience required - Neurological and psychiatric case skills required - Respiratory case skills required - Professional knowledge in isolation precautions and wound care required - Continuous bladder irrigation experience required - Cerner experience required - Teaching hospital experience preferred - Trauma Level II experience preferred Description: Position available for a Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical Neuro specialty. The nurse will work four 12-hour shifts per week. The average daily census on the unit is 32 patients. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of nursing experience. First-time travelers are not accepted for this position. Weekend work is required every other weekend. No on-call hours are required. Clinicians will float as needed within the scope of their practice. Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager for accommodation. Candidates must have an active state license to apply. There are ideally no more than five days of restricted time off allowed. The client may call off up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without payment for the cancelled hours. Candidates must have experience with telemetry and remote monitoring. Skills in colostomy care, feeding tube care and management are required. Experience with IV therapy including accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line management is necessary. Medication management experience such as with heparin, insulin, and PCA is required. Experience with CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury is necessary. Clinical skills related to chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP management, and tracheostomy care are required. Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care techniques is essential. Candidates should be familiar with continuous bladder irrigation and have experience with Cerner charting. Teaching hospital experience and trauma Level II experience are preferred.
