Must-Have:
36 months RN experience, with at least one year in an ICU.
One previous successful travel nursing assignment preferably in a facility that used Meditech.
Ability to care for up to 1-3 ICU patients.
Comfort managing patients on a ventilator.
Proficient in reading telemetry strips.
Description:
Traveler shall be scheduled in accordance with facility policy.
Expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with facility employees.
Unit staffing includes RNs.
The unit has a total of 28 mixed ICU beds.
Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3/4 holding inpatient PCU/med surg admissions.
Type of equipment includes mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels.
The documentation system utilized is Meditech.
Scheduling requirements are for three 12-hour shifts per week, which include every other weekend.
Travelers are the first to float if needed.
Any traveler could be assigned to the emergency department or PCU for patient care.
Bedside shift report is the method of patient handoff.
Advanced skills needed include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy.
Nurses also administer respiratory treatments outside of the ICU, such as inhalers and nebulizers.
Procedures performed in this unit include post-operative CABG (fresh heart), impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics.
Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is required, including EVDs and induced hypothermia.
A BSN is preferred, along with advanced certifications and TNCC certification.
Dress code includes a navy uniform.
