Travel Nurse RN - Neuro ICU - $2,025 per week in Charlotte, NC

Job Opportunity – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: September 21, 2026
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15), 36 hours per week, every other weekend required

Highlights:

• Comprehensive Stroke Center specializing in ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, and complex neurosurgical cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1, flexing to 3:1 during high census periods
• Average daily census of 11-12 patients in a 13-bed unit
• 24-hour orientation period with robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Epic EMR system with Pyxis medication management
• 13-week assignment with floating required; no call requirement

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience required (strong neuro critical care background essential)
• Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Proficiency with ventilators, IV starts, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, blood product administration, central line care, continuous IV sedation, and CVA/acute stroke management
• Experience with external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-neurosurgery management, and care of ventilated patients
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Arterial line management experience

Patient Population:

This comprehensive stroke center treats a diverse range of neurological conditions including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes (including subarachnoid hemorrhage), subdural hematomas, craniotomies, carotid stents and endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling and clipping, seizures, depth electrode monitoring, and myasthenia gravis. You will work with specialized equipment including EVDs, lumbar drains, hemovacs, Camino ICP monitors, LICOX brain tissue oxygen monitors, NICOM hemodynamic monitoring, and Arctic Sun temperature management systems.
