This advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) position is for a Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse in a facility located in Wausau, Wisconsin. The role involves working in an 8-bed Neuro ICU unit focused on stroke, traumatic brain injury, head injury, and neurosurgical patients. The position offers a 7-week contract beginning on October 5, 2026, with 12-hour day shifts and a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week.

- Float Requirements: Will float between Neuro Critical Care Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Medical Surgical ICU (MSICU) units; may float to other critical care and inpatient units as needed
- Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and every other holiday
- Certifications Required: Wisconsin Registered Nurse License, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum Experience: 0 years minimum, with 2 years preferred, including experience in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU with strong assessment skills in Neuro
- Charting Experience: EPIC preferred
- Unit Information: 8-bed Neuro ICU unit with Neuro patient focus from Med/Surg ICU, including Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Head Injury, and Neurosurgery patients. Experience with Neuro Interventionalists, External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), and Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring is a plus.
- Primary Procedures: Neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures including line placement and intubation, bolt and drain placements in collaboration with Neurosurgery, and care for Neuro interventional patients
- Additional Notes: Must be a hard worker, resilient, adaptable to change, and able to manage independently. Scrub color can vary.
- Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday
- Notes: During flu season, declination of flu and COVID vaccinations requires Mask use at all times, per policy.
