Job Summary Neuro Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized care to neurocritical patients in a dedicated 8-bed Neuro ICU unit. The position requires assessment skills tailored to neuropatients, with responsibilities including neuro evaluations, bedside ICU procedures, and neuro-specific interventions such as bolt and drain placements. The assignment offers a 13-week contract starting on November 9, 2026, with guaranteed hours and floating between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical/Surgical ICU units.
Job Details
Certifications, Education, Degree, Location, and Years of Experience: WI RN License, BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC), NIHSS; Associate Degree or Certificate; 2 years minimum experience, preferred with at least one travel assignment in Med/Surg ICU and/or Neuro ICU; must have strong assessment skills in neuro.
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, guaranteed 36 hours per week.
Float: Float rotation may be required.
Additional Information:
Contract length is 13 weeks, starting 11/9/2026, ending 02/06/2027.
The unit handles stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery patients, including neurointerventional care.
Experience with EVDs and ICP monitoring is preferred.
Main procedures include neuro assessments, bedside ICU procedures, line placement, intubation, bolt, and drain placements.
Candidates must be resilient, adaptable to change, able to work independently, and manage tasks efficiently.
Any candidate declining flu and COVID vaccinations during flu season must wear masks at all times, as per policy.
Shift notes specify 12-hour days with no on-call responsibilities.
