Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: 2+ Years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong Neuro Experience, Proficient in Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias Description: Required skills include management of external ventricular drains (EVD), craniotomies, and burr holes. Position is located in a Neuroscience ICU that is accredited as a comprehensive stroke unit. The patient population primarily consists of individuals with neurosurgical conditions, including hemorrhagic strokes, subarachnoid hemorrhages, aneurysms, and vascular malformations. Candidates must have experience dealing with mild to severe traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, as well as planned surgical tumor removals. Additionally, they should have familiarity with ischemic strokes, seizure disorders, and neurological infections. Patient ratios are 1:2 during night shifts. Candidates are required to work every other weekend. Management capabilities include interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, allowing for a robust understanding of cardiac care. Candidates will float within their scope of practice to meet facility needs as necessary. Experience in high volume and high acuity environments is highly preferred. The role includes various nursing tasks, including arterial line management, ventilator management, continuous IV sedation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips. Potential candidates should also be adept in interpreting arterial blood gases and managing multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. All skills required for balanced care in the Neuro ICU should be demonstrated.
