Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 or 26 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: EVD experience and Joint Commission stroke certified facility experience required. EPIC charting experience required. Experience with managing drips on all floors. Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs. Description: This position involves caring for patients in a 20-bed unit providing intensive care to adults who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, strokes, epilepsy, and other head traumas. RNs should be prepared to manage up to five Med-Surg patients. EVDs are placed at the bedside for patient management. Patients may include those with EEG leads implanted in the brain to detect seizures, who can remain on the unit for up to three weeks. Travelers must work four weekend shifts out of eight possible in a four-week period, including Friday and Saturday nights. A request for time off must be submitted with the application, and additional requests after confirmation may be considered at management's discretion. Travelers must work two out of three major holidays during the contract. A nicotine-free environment is enforced, and any suspected nicotine use can lead to contract termination. Candidates must possess strong critical care skills and be comfortable floating between units as necessary. Travelers may be assigned to various interdisciplinary support teams including respiratory, social services, and physical therapy.
