Job Title

Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend | Rotating Holidays

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in an 18-bed Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing complex neurological diagnoses including strokes, post-craniectomy patients, and ventriculostomy cases
  • Titrate physician-ordered drips and manage arterial lines, central lines, and tPA administration in accordance with ICU protocols
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips using Philips monitoring equipment; collaborate with on-unit telemetry technicians
  • Manage and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
  • Apply NIH Stroke Scale assessments and support acute stroke management and post-craniectomy care
  • Float to lower levels of care including intermediate and general floor units as staffing requires
Required Qualifications
  • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • Demonstrated experience with ventriculostomy, arterial lines, central lines, ventilators, and tPA administration
  • Experience with acute stroke management and post-craniectomy care
  • Ability to titrate drips per physician orders in an ICU setting
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior travel or contract nursing experience in a neurological or medical ICU setting
  • Comfort floating to intermediate care or general medical-surgical units
  • Familiarity with Philips telemetry monitoring systems
