Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a large, urban hospital License: Must have an active state RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic charting experience - Ability to manage drips, including insulin and heparin - Experience in neuro stepdown and telemetry nursing Description: 36 or 48-hour work options are available. This is a mixed acuity unit. Registered Nurses must be prepared to float frequently to meet staffing needs. Two weeks of requested time off is permitted. The unit specializes in caring for medical-surgical patients, particularly those with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. The patient population includes strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions. Registered Nurses should be able to care for up to five med-surg patients. Ratios are 1:5 days and 1:6 nights for medical-surgical/telemetry. Stepdown ratios range from 1:3 to 1:4, both days and nights. Required drips include nitroglycerin, heparin, and insulin (non-DKA). Registered Nurses will float within scope as needed. Four weekend shifts out of eight possible are required during a four-week period. Registered Nurses must work two out of three major holidays. The facility is a 100% nicotine-free environment. Mandatory gray scrubs are required. All contracts must end on a Sunday to comply with workweek regulations.
