Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Client Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License issued or a current multistate compact RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required Must-Have: Stroke experience and NIHSS preferred Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations of patients, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires precepting and possibly working in a virtual room. It involves caring for stroke and neuro patients, as well as orthopedic and spine patients. Ratios are 3:1 for stroke patients and 5:1 for all other patients. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is necessary. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is essential. Maintaining good working relationships with other employees is required. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is important. Some computer skills are required. An Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a board-approved program is preferred.
