Job Title: Registered Nurse - NICU

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the NICU is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to neonates of all gestational ages in a Level 3 NICU setting. This role requires management of various neonatal diagnoses including low birth weight and high frequency ventilation, as well as care of feeders/growers. The unit does not perform ECMO or cardiac surgery.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage ventilations, perform IV starts, manage chest tubes, and titrate IV medications.
  • Participate in and support neonatal resuscitation efforts.
  • Work within a team including CNAs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, neonatologists, and neonatal nurse practitioners.
  • Assist with transport team tasks when required.
  • Float to PICU, Pediatrics, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, or Adult units if needed.

Requirements:

  • BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications; STABLE preferred.
  • Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of NICU experience; first-time travelers accepted with 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience in managing ventilations, performing IV starts, and neonatal resuscitation preferred.
