Job Summary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in a hospital setting and involves providing specialized care to neonatal patients in a Level III NICU. This role requires working night shifts during a 13-week assignment, with a focus on caring for high-acuity neonatal patients including those with respiratory distress syndrome, prematurity, and hypoglycemia. The position emphasizes adherence to neonatal care protocols and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Job Details
Schedule: Nights shift, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, every other weekend, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS (American Heart Association), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); ?2 years of neonatal intensive care experience; residence within 60 miles, with proper documentation required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Level II and Level III NICU patients; comfort with common neonatal diagnoses such as RDS, prematurity, and hypoglycemia.
Float: Float within Zone 1 (PEN, SFH, SFI, SMC, STM) may be required based on clinical needs.
Additional Information:
Unit requires self-scheduling with flexibility to balance shifts.
Equipment used includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, heated high flow, and blended oxygen.
No nurse aids on the unit; nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:3 as needed.
Telemetry monitoring is standard; RNs are responsible for reading strips.
Dress code is navy blue; one shift of unit-specific orientation is required prior to start.
Hospital policy allows cancellation of up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment.
Must submit license and meet all certification requirements upon placement.
Start date is scheduled for 10/05/2026, with end date of 01/04/2027.
