Opportunity:

RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse

Job Details:

• Must be able to travel to both campuses in Oak Lawn and Park Ridge
• Assignments are posted 90 to 120 minutes prior to shift start
• Minimum of 1.5 years of experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Patient types include premature infants, unstable newborns requiring medical care, and surgical patients
• Patient ratio is 1:2 with no CNAs on the unit
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP
• Required skills include SERVO and HFOV vents, tracheostomy care, chest tubes, and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO)
• Must be proficient with umbilical and arterial lines and drips
• Must be proficient with NG tubes, G-tubes, and enteral feeds
• Charting systems used: EPIC, Pyxis, Alaris, and Phillips monitor
• Support on unit includes a free-floating charge nurse, respiratory therapy available 24/7, and neonatologist available 24/7
• Bedside monitoring with nurses station, no tele tech
• Each patient has their own stethoscope for infection prevention
• Potential to float to pediatric inpatient unit only if assignment is NICU appropriate
• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Time off requests go through manager for approval
• Scrubs are provided on the unit for infection prevention
• Free parking available

Facility:

This facility is a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Hospital with 180 beds. It houses a Level III NICU with 54 beds, providing advanced care for the most critically ill and premature newborns. The unit is supported around the clock by respiratory therapy and neonatology staff, ensuring comprehensive care for complex neonatal cases.
