Job Summary:
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) registered nurse position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The role involves providing specialized care in a Level 3 and Level 4 neonatal environment within a busy, high-acuity unit. The position is suitable for experienced RNs who are comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and managing complex patient conditions.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program); 2 years of NICU experience preferred, though candidates with less may be considered with manager approval; location outside the facility should be at least 50 miles from the facility; ability to work in high acuity, fast-paced environment
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system, EVDs (External Ventricular Drain), Camino ICP monitoring device, management of critical care vasoactive drips, invasive lines, ART lines, CVP, sterile techniques, ventilator management, trach management, bedside procedures, CRRT, and ECMO experience preferred but flexible
  • Support within the Department: Unit Secretary on every shift, Charge nurse, 24/7 IV/VAT/PCVC team, resource nurse, in-house intensivists, residents, APPs, telemetry monitoring, unit-based educators (AM and PM), and clinical supervisors
  • Technology/Equipment: EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, PIV ultrasound, Tecotherm, MOMs system, neonatal PCUGen Peds float to related units as needed
  • Orientation: Two days of departmental orientation, with hospital and unit-specific training
  • Scheduling: Rotate weekends, working two Fridays and two Mondays, plus every other weekend, within a 6-week cycle; no call required, with potential floating to similar units if NICU utilization is limited
  • Holiday Requirements: Scheduled to work during holidays, including the holiday and the days before and after, on a rotating basis
  • RTO: Manager approval required for significant time off; flexibility preferred to ensure coverage
  • Dress Code: Solid navy or white scrubs, long sleeve shirt if needed, Pediatric-friendly scrub tops, no tight scrubs or organizational branding
  • Practice Guidelines: Bare Below Elbow policy in nurseriesno watches, jewelry, or artificial nails
  • Parking: Free parking available
