Shift Notes
7a-7p weekends as needed, Float to all St. Lukes Treasure Valley Sites-Meridian, Nampa, Boise in primary skill set (L&D, Postpartum, or Antepartum) or as a sitter.
NICU RN – Nampa Hospital (Women's Services, Floor 3)
Unit Overview
- Level II NICU
- 8 private NICU suites
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3
Required Certifications
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience (required)
- First-time travelers accepted
- Preferred Mother-Baby/LDRP background
- Must be experienced with:
- Attending all deliveries
- Neonatal stabilization
- "Eyes & thighs" (eye prophylaxis and vitamin K)
- 2-hour newborn assessments
- Attending all C-sections (scheduled, urgent, and emergent) as the delivery nurse
Patient Population
- Infants 32 weeks gestation and above
- Respiratory distress
- Feeders and growers
- Hypoglycemia
- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) scoring
Clinical Skills
- No titratable drips
- NICU CPAP only
- Ventilated babies are transferred to a Level III NICU
- Continuous centralized monitoring
- Neonatal NP available 24/7
Scheduling
- 12-hour shifts (7–7)
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Cannot work 6 consecutive shifts
- Travelers fill scheduling gaps initially
Floating
- Must float to NICUs at:
- May also float as a sitter if needed
Orientation
- 3 days of unit orientation
- EPIC/Curio assignments must be completed before the start date
Dress Code
- Hospital-issued scrubs only
- Must change into/out of scrubs at work
- No nail polish, gel nails, or acrylic nails
Additional Notes
- Travelers frequently extend contracts and return
- Travel duos need separate vehicles because they may be assigned to different facilities during a shift
Facility Policy
- 50-mile radius rule applies
