WNTR BLOCK 1ST TIMERS - LEVEL III NICU RN
Job Details:
• Block schedules required
• Weekends required - 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period with variable, self-scheduling
• No on-call required
• Expected patient ratios of 1:2-4
• Position may float to PRN Pediatrics, PICU, and Pediatric ED
• May be expected to float between sister facilities nearby contracted facility - refusal to float may result in termination of assignment and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
• 2+ years of NICU experience required; Level III experience preferred as this is a Level IV unit
• Open to contracts longer than 13 weeks if desired
• Charting system experience required - Epic
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP
• Scrub color: Navy for all RNs
• Parking is free in any unrestricted space
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during submittal
• Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
• 2 references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Advanced skills required include: administration of blood and blood products, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, APGAR scoring, arterial line management, assist with lumbar puncture, blood glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support/handling of breast milk, Bubble CPAP, central line blood draw, central line/implanted line care, colostomy/ileostomy management/care, developmental care, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), gastroschisis/omphalocele, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), high frequency ventilation, hyperbilirubinemia, ICP monitoring, insulin administration, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, isolation precautions/PPE, IV vasopressors, level 1 nursery, management of chest tubes, meconium aspiration, necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), neonatal abstinence syndrome, neonatal dosage calculations, neonatal sepsis, neonates, NICU II, NICU III, NICU IV, nitric oxide, oscillators, oxygen delivery systems, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, phototherapy, placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes, post abdominal surgery, respiratory distress syndrome, seizure disorders, sepsis work up, starting and maintaining IVs, steroids, suctioning (ETT, NT), surfactants, telemetry monitoring, therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket), thermoregulation, tracheostomy care/management, UAC, UVC, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), and ventricular peritoneal (VP) shunts
Facility:
This facility is a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 181 total staff beds. The unit is a Level IV NICU with 43 beds and a daily census of 35 patients, caring exclusively for neonates. The unit manages a wide range of complex diagnoses including prematurity, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, sepsis, surgical cases across all subspecialties except cardiac, and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Interdisciplinary support includes interpretation services, and the facility utilizes Epic as its charting system.
