Job Breakdown – NICU RN

• Facility: Arkansas Children’s Hospital
• Position: NICU RN
• Schedule:12-hour nights
• Contract: 13 weeks
• Weekend: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Required as needed
• Call: None
• EMR: EPIC
• Float: Required within the ICU cluster

Must-Have Requirements

• 3+ years of clinical experience in a Level III–IV NICU
• Level IV NICU experience is specifically required
  • Level I or II NICU experience will not be considered
• At least 1 prior travel assignment
• EPIC experience
• BLS + NRP
• Active Arkansas or Compact RN license required upon offer
• Must pass the facility fit test
• Must test negative for nicotine

Patient Population

Experience with complex neonatal cases, including:

• 23-week micro-preemies
• Very low birth weight infants
• NEC/perforation
• Chronic lung disease
• PDA ligation
• Spina bifida
• Diaphragmatic hernia
• Body cooling
• General neonatal surgeries

Ratios: Approximately 1:1–1:3/4 depending on acuity

Other Important Details

• Prior travel experience is required for this position, despite the general statement that it isn't required.
• Travelers are first to float.
• May float to NICU, PICU, CVICU, Burn ICU, or IMU within the ICU cluster.
• Approximately 2–3 days of orientation + specialty testing.
• No self-scheduling; scheduling is handled by the manager/scheduler.
