Travel RN – Nurse Shift Manager | Bakersfield, CA | Leadership OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic RN Nurse Shift Manager to join a leading healthcare facility in Bakersfield, CA. Position Details- Title: Travel RN – Nurse Shift Manager
- Location: Bakersfield, CA (93311)
- Shift: Nights
- Schedule: Every Other Weekend (EOW), First to Float
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Interview Process: Manager Interview Required
Compensation Highlights- OT after 8 hours/day (24 regular + 12 OT hours)
- OT billed after 40 hours/week (same rate as regular)
Role OverviewThis position is a hybrid leadership role, combining responsibilities of a:
- Charge Nurse
- Clinical Mentor
- Shift Manager
You will play a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality patient care while supporting staff, resolving issues, and maintaining smooth unit operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on-shift leadership and clinical oversight
- Serve as a resource for staff on clinical and operational matters
- Perform patient rounding to ensure quality and safety standards
- Address patient care concerns, service issues, and safety risks
- Support and mentor nursing staff to maintain a positive work environment
- Take charge nurse assignments as needed based on census and staffing
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes
Required Qualifications- Active RN License (CA)
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA or APEX required)
- Recent experience as a Charge RN (required in last assignment)
- Prior travel experience required (No first-time travelers)
Orientation- 3 Weeks Total Orientation
- Week 1: Classroom Training
- Weeks 2–3: Unit-Based Orientation
Additional Information- Floating: Required (first to float)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
