Job Title: L&D Floor Manager Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Management Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: - Experience in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum - Ability to circulate in c-section procedures - Experience floating between L&D and postpartum units Description: Unit has 7 L&D beds, 4 triage beds, and 2 overflow beds. Postpartum unit includes 27 beds with a 5-bed nursery. The unit averages 3 births per day, totaling approximately 1545 births annually. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring (AWOHNN - intermediate or advanced). Ratios follow established guidelines. Fetal monitoring system is in use. Electronic Medical Records system utilized is Cerner. Charge nurse duties are assigned on each shift. Each unit has a resource nurse to cover breaks for staff. OB techs assist with deliveries and surgical procedures as needed. Weekend work includes 4 shifts in a 4-week schedule. Call is optional but preferred for travelers. Holiday shifts are typically rotated with permanent staff. Scrub color is navy. Telemedicine services are available. Respiratory therapy is on-call 24/7. Pharmacy support is also available 24/7. Shifts are primarily 12 hours, from 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Nurses should be prepared to circulate during c-sections even if they have not scrubbed before. L&D nurses may float to postpartum and have experience in both areas. Postpartum nurses may float to L&D primarily for support tasks. Common patient types include high-risk deliveries, EMT drop-offs, and substance abuse cases. Diverse patient population includes those with no prenatal care. Candidates should possess 2-3 years of experience, ideally with at least one prior travel contract. Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shift cancellations per 13-week assignment. Charting is done through an electronic system. BSN is not required for this position. Trauma level and care setting details are applicable. Division: Nursing Shift Notes: 8-hour varied days.
