Description:
Reports to the Director.
Has 24-hour responsibility for the management of nursing personnel and patient care in the assigned areas.
Contributes to the nursing service department through support of philosophy, objectives, and educational efforts.
Follows, supports, and enforces nursing service policies and procedures.
Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product of service that contributes to the patient and family experience.
Must be accessible, flexible, knowledgeable, and responsive.
Plans, implements, and evaluates a nursing care delivery system for assigned areas that reflects the department philosophy using effective principles of leadership and management.
Identifies problems or potential problems in department(s) and works with staff to develop solutions to resolve them.
Establishes and maintains staffing levels for the department to ensure a responsible, safe level of patient care with continuity.
Provides clinical support and resources for staff.
Promotes good working relationships among nursing staff members and with other disciplines.
Participates in Nursing Leadership Council and Leadership meetings.
Develops unit-based QI initiatives annually and participates in organizational quality initiatives.
Participates in policy and procedure development and ensures regulatory compliance.
Conducts monthly off-shift rounding and daily rounding on patients and employees.
Responsible for staff recruitment, retention, hiring, and termination in coordination with Talent Management.
Oversees employee education, orientation, development, competency, and certification requirements.
Serves on a minimum of two organizational committees not including mandatory leadership meetings.
Responsible for developing and maintaining compliance with budget and productivity goals.
Participates in organization and leadership development programs.
Responsible for departmental annual budget and capital preparation.
Conducts annual employee performance evaluations and operational management of assigned departments.
Provides mentoring, coaching, and leadership development for clinical coordinators.
Conducts monthly staff meetings and submits minutes into the required system.
Conducts all written and formal disciplines with employees in coordination with Talent Management.
Develops, communicates, and administers necessary policies and procedures.
Participates in professional and community activities related to healthcare.
Conducts monthly safety rounds to ensure a secure environment and safe use of equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, values, standards, policies and procedures, and customer service standards.
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
Provides the care needed as described in the division's policies and procedures.
