Travel Nurse RN - Nurse Manager - $4,370 per week in Bronx, NY

Job Title: Nurse Manager Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with 1-hour lunch Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Unit Manager experience in a Client Setting - Stroke and Telemetry experience - Ability to read and interpret telemetry - 8 hours of stroke education Description: The Nurse Manager oversees a telemetry unit with 25 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 for medical/surgical and 1:4 for telemetry. Common diagnoses include general medical/surgical, active stroke post-ICU, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, asthma, polysubstance abuse, diabetes, psychiatric patients, and some post-surgical cases. RNs are not required to titrate drips, but common titratable is heparin. A telemetry tech located on a different unit assists with monitoring. RNs are responsible for printing and reading telemetry strips once per shift. The charge nurse will take a light assignment when necessary. Nurse aides perform basic care tasks, vitals, EKGs, phlebotomy, and assist with activities of daily living. Respiratory therapy is available in the building to administer treatments and manage respiratory equipment. RNs work 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with PCT shifts varying from days, evenings, and nights. Management will request traveler availability and make scheduling accommodations when possible. Weekend and holiday work may be required, and flexibility in scheduling is expected. If needed, travelers may float to other medical/surgical telemetry units. Unit-specific orientation will be provided on the first day. The charting system utilized is Allscripts. Royal blue scrubs are the designated uniform color.
