JOB SUMMARY The Labor Relations Manager serves as the primary leader for day-to-day labor relations activities across multiple Massachusetts healthcare facilities. This role supports labor strategy, collective bargaining, contract administration, union relations, and labor law compliance while partnering closely with senior HR and operations leadership.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead labor relations activities across multiple hospital facilities in Massachusetts
- Advise hospital leadership on labor relations strategy and compliance matters
- Manage collective bargaining negotiations with multiple labor unions
- Oversee contract interpretation, administration, and enforcement
- Handle grievance and arbitration processes, including managing outside counsel
- Prepare for and respond to labor disruptions including strikes and picketing
- Support union avoidance strategies and union organizing responses
- Collaborate with senior HR and operations leaders on workforce issues
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor and employment laws
- Conduct labor relations research, analysis, and documentation as needed
- Travel between assigned facilities to support on-site labor relations needs
JOB REQUIREMENTS - Juris Doctor (JD) required
- 5 7 years of labor relations or labor/employment law experience
- Experience managing collective bargaining agreements and negotiations
- Experience handling grievance and arbitration processes
- Experience responding to union organizing campaigns
- Strong knowledge of labor and employment law frameworks
- Experience working with outside counsel and consultants
- Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and advisory skills
- Ability to work independently in a multi-site environment
- Willingness to travel frequently between facilities
