Job Title: Oncology Nurse Navigator/Coordinator

Hours per Shift: 8 hours (8 am - 4:30 pm)
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of acute oncology experience
License: BSN-RN
Certifications: BLS required, OCN preferred
Must-Have:
- Ability to manage a high volume and fast pace.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficient in triaging and delegating tasks.
- Experience with tracking patients using spreadsheets.
- Preference for outpatient and gastrointestinal experience.
- Prior nurse navigator or nurse coordinator experience is preferred.
Description:
This role focuses on newly diagnosed cancer patients specifically with gastrointestinal-related cancers.
The nurse navigator coordinates the patient’s journey from the initial referral until treatment begins.
Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, coordinating procedures, and reviewing charts.
The nurse navigator determines necessary imaging and reviews documentation for any gaps.
They provide support and coordinate care, often involving multiple providers in a single day.
Participation in tumor boards, multi-disciplinary case management, and case conference coordination is expected.
The nurse navigator serves as the primary point of contact for patients until they are ready for treatment.
At that point, the nurse navigator will pass the patient on to the clinic nurse.
Direct patient care is not performed; rather, this role emphasizes care coordination.
Navy scrubs or business casual attire is required for this position.
Epic access is necessary for this role.
