Registered Nurse - Inpatient Oncology (Med-Surg)
Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join an Inpatient Oncology Unit at a leading acute care facility in Cumming, Georgia. The successful candidate will provide specialized nursing care to adult patients undergoing cancer treatment and managing related medical-surgical conditions.
The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, medication administration, symptom management, and collaborative care planning within a fast-paced acute care environment. This position is ideal for a compassionate and skilled RN committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to a vulnerable patient population.
Self-identifying as a travel nurse, candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Cumming, Georgia.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, assessments, and interventions for oncology and medical-surgical patients.
- Administer medications, including chemotherapy and other specialized treatments, following established protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs, interpret diagnostic data, and document all aspects of patient care accurately.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, oncologists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, medication management, and discharge instructions.
- Manage pain and other symptoms associated with cancer and its treatment, ensuring patient comfort and well-being.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and infection-controlled environment for all patients.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in Inpatient Oncology or Medical-Surgical nursing with a significant oncology patient population.
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Cumming, Georgia.

- Proficiency in oncology nursing practices, including chemotherapy administration and management of related side effects.
- Strong medical-surgical nursing skills, including IV insertion, central line care, wound care, and pain management.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Nights (NOC)
- Shift Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Shift Duration: 12 hours
- Days per Week: 3 days per week (36 hours total)
- Schedule: Varies, including weekend rotations as required by the unit.
- Holiday Requirements: Must work two (2) major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and one (1) minor holiday (Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve) during the assignment.
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or a compact state license with eligibility for Georgia endorsement.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
