The nurse will handle auto stem cell transplants and chemotherapy administration. The average patient ratio is 4:1 on all shifts. The daily census averages 30 patients. Every other weekend work is required. The nurse will float to the unit with the greatest need each shift. Candidates must pass a Relias EKG exam. Experience in managing dysrhythmias is mandatory. Chemo certification is required. The nurse will also be responsible for isolation precautions and monitoring telemetry. Additional duties include administration of antiemetics, antibiotics, and Foley catheter management. The work environment includes interdisciplinary support from various teams such as pharmacy and social services. Special procedures include management of complications from blood cancers and acute tumor lysis syndrome.
