Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:00 - 16:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 Years License: NC or Compact License Required Certifications: BCLS Required Must-Have: Phlebotomy Skills Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in oncology. The nurse will work in a classical hematology clinic focusing on bleeding disorders, hemophilia, anemias, sickle cell disease, and deep vein thrombosis. Malignant hematology and oncology will not be seen in this clinic. RNs are required to bring their own stethoscope. The clinic requires strong phlebotomy skills. The role includes nursing patients, performing phlebotomy, central line care, assisting with bone marrow biopsies, vaccinations, EKGs, phone triage, and facilitating patient scheduling for appropriate infusions. Patient education and case management are also responsibilities of this position. Experience in outpatient oncology clinics is preferred but not required. Chemotherapy and infusions are not performed in this setting. The average daily patient census is approximately 70. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. There are no call or weekend requirements. Candidates must be comfortable floating to other units based on skill sets and census. No RTO is allowed during the first week of the assignment. Candidates must be available for two out of three major holidays. Phlebotomy skills are essential for this role.
