Job Title: Level 2 RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Duration: 6-8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical experience required, Minimum 1 year of travel experience required License: Unencumbered RN License in the state of practice Certifications: BLS Must-Have: High acuity unit, mentor/charge experience required Description: Candidate is needed for a short-term assignment. The nurse is responsible for patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams. This role ensures high-quality, compassionate care. The nurse manages patients' needs throughout their hospitalization, focusing on recovery, education, and overall well-being. The unit has a focus on Medical-Surgical patients, with a lower volume of oncology patients. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological health upon admission and throughout their hospital stay. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans based on changing conditions or responses to treatment. Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, including oral, intravenous, and injectable medications. Monitor and assess patient responses to medications and treatments, reporting any adverse reactions to the healthcare team. Perform tasks such as wound care and dressing changes as required by the patient's condition. Monitor patients' vital signs and document all assessments, interventions, medications, treatments, and outcomes. Identify and report any changes in patient status or complications to ensure timely interventions. Work collaboratively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic patient care. Participate in daily rounds and provide updates on patient status to the medical team. Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding care plans and treatment options. Educate patients and their families on managing conditions and preparing for discharge. Provide guidance on post-hospital care, including lifestyle modifications and medication instructions. Monitor patients recovering from surgery and assess for complications. Provide post-operative care, including pain management and wound care. Ensure patient safety by following protocols for infection control and other safety measures. Recognize and respond to emergencies, providing immediate care for life-threatening conditions as needed. Qualifications: Education: Registered Nurse with a valid state nursing license. Experience: Previous experience in a medical-surgical setting is required, with experience in various medical conditions and surgical procedures being beneficial. Skills and Abilities: Strong clinical knowledge and nursing skills, particularly in patient assessment and medication administration.
