Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum years of experience required in outpatient oncology infusion or inpatient oncology experience License: Active nursing license required Certifications: Chemo Certification required, BLS, OCN preferred Must-Have: Chemo certification is mandatory to administer chemotherapy Description: Outpatient infusion and oncology registered nurse position available. Schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Shifts may vary, working until the last patient is seen. Start times are typically between 7:15 AM and 7:45 AM. No holidays or weekends are required. Experience with infusion center and outpatient oncology is preferred. IM subcutaneous injection experience and therapeutic phlebotomy skills required. Candidates will care for oncology patients requiring chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Additional responsibilities include managing hematology patients and performing non-oncology infusions. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 70 patients. The unit has 2 private rooms and 26 chairs. Interdisciplinary support includes interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Essential skills include managing ports, administering chemotherapy, and monitoring side effects. Candidates must be adept in patient and family education and support. Clinical protocols include recognizing and managing adverse reactions. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills with the healthcare team. This position requires strong critical thinking in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to handle various patient care equipment and procedures. A commitment to patient safety and quality care is essential.
