Description:
First-time travelers are welcome.
A 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio is maintained.
There is a float requirement.
Weekend coverage is needed every other week.
Patient population includes hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, gynecologic and surgical oncology.
Unit features a 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients.
Bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies may be performed.
Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps integrated with Epic, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps.
The ideal candidate must be experienced in administering chemotherapy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, and colostomy/ileostomy management.
Experience in telemetry and managing dysrhythmias is necessary.
Knowledge of isolation precautions and IV protocols is also required.
Candidates should be skilled in phlebotomy and peripheral line care.
Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
Chemotherapy infusion and bone marrow transplant experience are essential.
Candidates must not currently be employed or have recently worked in a permanent staff capacity in the past year.
