Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Oncology Floor registered nurse position in Peoria, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized patient care in an acute care setting for individuals undergoing oncology treatments, including IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy, within a facility dedicated to cancer care. The nurse will work on a 12-hour night shift schedule, with consistent weekend and holiday rotations.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts beginning at 0700 or 1900, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Scheduling is in a 6-week cycle with self-scheduling options, coordinated with a designated scheduler.
  • Required Qualifications: Illinois RN license or confirmation of application in process, active BLS (AHA) certification, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, and at least 1 year of relevant nursing experience, including experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy regimens.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with IV medication administration in an oncology setting, familiarity with Epic Beacon EMR, and ability to handle patient monitoring for side effects.
  • Duties: Administer chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, monitor patients for medication side effects, manage infusion pumps at set rates, troubleshoot respiratory devices such as Cpap and Bipap, and collaborate with charge RNs and nurse aids.
  • Additional Information: The role includes utilization of house-wide telemetry, no requirement for RNs to interpret telemetry strips, and involves unit-specific orientation of 24-36 hours. The unit manages a census of 19 beds, with staffing and patient ratios tailored to census fluctuations.
