Description

Job Title: RN Oncology Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 6 months in Pediatric Hematology Oncology; 1 year of general nursing experience. Level I trauma experience preferred. License: Current RN License Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - APHON Chemotherapy Certification Must-Have: - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists the physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Responds effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Possesses some computer skills.
