Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Pediatric Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 18 months of experience in an acute and chronic care setting with solid oncology experience License: Active RN license Certifications: APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Status, PALS, and BLS certification Must-Have: Flu vaccination required, no exemptions Description: The RN will provide nursing care to patients with various cancer diagnoses. Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, blood components, and fluid/electrolyte replacements. The RN will assess patient conditions and manage side effects. Emotional support to patients and their families is a critical part of the role. Prioritization skills are essential in a fast-paced setting. The unit consists of a 16-bed inpatient Hematology Oncology unit. The typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 3 patients to 1 nurse. If medical/surgical patients are present, this may change to 4 patients to 1 nurse. A charge RN will be available without patient assignments for every shift. A team lead RN will assist with double checks, high alert drugs, procedures, and patient transportation. Nursing Care Partners will provide nursing assistant tasks. This position involves weekend and holiday shifts.
