Oncology Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Oncology Clinic Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, Oncology Certified (ONCC or ONS) Must-Have: Familiarity with Alaris Infusion Pumps and CADD Ambulatory Pumps. Description: Great option for a first-time traveler. The manager values travelers and the clinic staff considers travelers as valued members of the team. The clinic often has return travelers, and the manager provides recognition and award recommendations to travelers. This position involves performing 6 infusions plus 1-2 port draws daily. The RN should be familiar with the administration of chemotherapy, monitoring chemotherapy, and managing ports. Experience with continuous infusion of chemotherapy and administration of blood and blood products is required. Knowledge of acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression, and chest tube care and management is essential. The nurse should be prepared to follow neutropenic precautions and manage symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, and neuropathy. Care for adults and geriatric patients will be required. Daily census includes 6 infusions and 1-2 port draws. This role may require floating to different facilities. All travelers are expected to comply with floating requirements, as refusal may impact assignment status. Successful candidates must be prepared to complete required training modules prior to the start of the assignment. References covering prior experience within the last 3 years are needed during the compliance process.
