Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Staff, Med Surg Oncology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of six (6) months to three (3) years of nursing experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: Chemotherapy administration experience preferred, but not required Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities. The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury as well as the alleviation of suffering. The RN diagnoses and treats human responses and advocates for individuals and families in their care. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. The role involves assessing, planning, delegating, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. The RN serves as a primary or accountable nurse based on their unit assignment. Education of patients and families in health promotion and disease management is essential. The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications. Collaboration with team members and effective resource utilization is expected. All nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements must be complied with. Active participation in the Nursing Shared Governance Model is required. Engagement in professional development and completing mandatory education is necessary. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. Providing support and a learning environment for new employees and students is a responsibility. The RN is expected to follow all organizational values. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
