Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of oncology experience. License: Current RN License (NJ or Compact). Certifications: BLS required. Must-Have: Candidates must have experience in accessing and managing ports, administration of blood and blood products, administration of chemotherapy, care and management of ports, and inpatient oncology. Candidates must be willing to float to other units. Candidates must pass a Basic Arrhythmia exam during orientation to continue with the contract. Description: This position involves providing patient care to adults with medical surgical oncology needs. The daily census on the unit is approximately 28 patients. Nurses will be responsible for starting and maintaining IVs, managing central lines and PICC lines, and administering chemotherapy. Strong time management and nursing skills are essential for success in this role. Candidates will work every other weekend and may float to additional medical surgical/telemetry units as needed. Candidates should be prepared for an evaluation involving EKG strip interpretation. The role may involve caring for patients with end-of-life needs and pain management. All candidates are expected to have the ability to independently interpret cardiac rhythms and perform necessary calculations.
