Key Responsibilities of the Travel Oncology Registered Nurse:
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and cancer-related treatments
- Monitor patients for side effects, adverse reactions, and treatment responses
- Administer medications, chemotherapy, and supportive therapies safely and accurately
- Collaborate closely with oncologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effect management, and emotional support resources
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation within the EMR system
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and infection control protocols
Requirements of the Travel Oncology Registered Nurse:
- Active RN license (Illinois or compact state)
- BLS and ONS/ONCC certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Oncology experience in an acute care or cancer center setting
- Proficiency in chemotherapy administration and oncology patient assessment
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
