Job Title: Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: 1 year of chemotherapy experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support, ACLS, Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Must-Have: Current chemotherapy certification Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Administers PO and SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by the physician. Consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, and other relevant topics. Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physicians during conscious sedation procedures and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and observes physiological manifestations, intervening when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with patients and families in sharing care plans during clinic visits and at discharge, as well as continued care via phone triage. Informs patients and families of clinic procedures. Provides chemotherapy-related educational information to patients and families and answers inquiries as appropriate. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff as necessary. Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment and assists with care coordination by obtaining referrals and completing follow-up phone calls with patients after clinic visits. Performs other duties as assigned.
