Medical Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the independent administration of a range of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and various injections, following provider orders. This role includes accessing port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters, as well as performing venipuncture, dressing changes, and laboratory tests via these access devices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and injections accurately and safely.
• Perform venipuncture and manage PICC and Hickman catheter care, including dressing changes and laboratory draws.
• Maintain precise and organized patient records documenting conditions, treatments, medications, and responses.
• Monitor all intravenous therapies and report any unusual occurrences to the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on medications, treatments, expected responses, side effects, and disease processes.
• Verify informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs, while adhering to PPE protocols.
• Ensure a safe environment by following all relevant policies and procedures.
• Utilize Epic EMR proficiently in daily operations.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Current and valid nursing license.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Note: Holiday coverage is required for this position.
