Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to perform assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care for an inpatient oncology unit serving oncology, neuro overflow, medical, and end-of-life patients
- Administer medications accurately and document care using an electronic medical record system
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and maintain professional accountability
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable standards and regulations
- Float to other units within the med/surg service line as needed
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license; must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold a Missouri RN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient oncology experience
- Proficiency in medication administration, EMR documentation, and physical assessment
- Flu vaccination required (November 1 – April 1); approved exemptions accepted, declinations are not
- Must be available the full orientation week; night shift orients on day shift
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ONS Chemotherapy Certification
- Experience with Alaris pumps, NOVA glucometers, remote telemetry, and EPIC EMR
- Team-oriented, reliable, and flexible personality with the ability to adapt to unit needs
